Join our group of happy volunteers as we prepare for an exciting season. Any of these volunteer opportunities make great experiences for college students, seniors and new members of the community! They are fun, look good on a resume, can provide an opportunity to meet new people, and support the arts!

Here are a few ways to get involved with the Firehouse:
We need several friendly, helpful, cheerful people to serve as ushers for our performances. It's a fun job and a great way to meet people and see great shows! This task involves direct contact with the public. If you enjoy greeting and helping people you'll fit right in.
You'll need to arrive an hour before the show to help put programs together, the house manager will be there to give direction. You will learn what to do in an emergency, enforce the rules of the theater and maybe run concessions. You will help pick up the theater after and get to view a show.
We need someone to help us take ticket orders by phone, process orders and help at box office on performance nights. This task involves direct contact with the public, both in person and over the phone. This is a job for a "People Person", someone with an outgoing personality. This is definitely a public relations opportunity, a chance to promote the Firehouse Center, the arts community and the community of Newburyport.
It requires that you be on a specific schedule, for example: every Thursday, from 3 pm to 5 pm. You must be comfortable using a computer and working with money, but training on the specific programs will be given.
There are small jobs that need to be done back stage so if you love the theater, back stage will be exciting for you.
We are a non-profit and have a limited staff. Sometimes we are yelling help by the end of the day! We have general office duties that cannot be covered by our small staff. If you only have an hour a week, we can put you to work! Mailings, data entry and filing are always available to be done! Your job would be helping with copying, doing mailings, typing, making phone calls and helping our office in anyway you can contribute.
Do you enjoy talking? Maybe you could help our Marketing Department contacting media people, arranging photo ops or interviews, or help gather materials for a press release.
We need a digital photographer who is willing to come to events and take some candid photos backstage, at opening nights, fundraisers, rehearsals, etc. This is a great opportunity for a student or retired photo hound!
Take some time put up posters around your town to help spread the word about Firehouse events. If you're from out of town all the better! Lots of people find out about performances by seeing the posters. Our small staff needs help postering the community and surrounding towns. If you can take some posters and put them up in your town, and/or where you work, we would be so very grateful!
We like to treat our visiting performers to a wonderful time, and we need someone to help us organize food, special dinners or just making sure everything is all set in the dressing rooms. Perhaps you would like to help us interface with some of the local restaurants in donating food for opening night receptions and concert nights
This Job involves keeping the history of the Firehouse. You'll clip newspaper articles and place them so our existence can be traced. It sounds boring but we will make it fun!
