This historic space continues to serve a large number of constituencies. In addition to the professional concerts and productions presented by the Firehouse organization, the theatre is used for semi-professional co-productions with other community groups, and is also rented to other arts groups and for private functions. The Gallery is a member of the Newburyport ArtWalk and hosts the work of professional artists as well as the art of local school children. All of this contributes to the vibrancy of the downtown Newburyport experience.
The Firehouse Center for the Arts is committed to the belief that the arts are an essential part of the learning experience. We brings arts attractions to Northern Essex County specifically with young audiences in mind. They enhance creativity, teach lessons in non-traditional ways, give youngsters the opportunity to express themselves in ways they never knew possible, and can establish a lifetime interest in artistic involvement.
