Featuring Liz Frame and the Kickers, with Special Guests The Dearhearts, also featuring Lynne Taylor, and other special guests
This event is to benefit the Newburyport Education Foundation. Liz Frame and the Kickers will be headlining and The Dearhearts, a sister singing-act from Frederick, MD who specialize in tight harmonies and heartfelt, Appalachian-tinged songs, (many of which are originals) will open. Throughout the evening special guest-musicians, like Bill Plante (piano) of the Bill Plante Trio, and Ben Zanfagna (sax) of Doc Zig and Benny Z, to name just a few, will be called up on stage. Hear singer/songwriter Lynne Taylor perform a few of her original tunes. This promises to be a night of good, original music!
About Liz Frame and the Kickers: Liz Frame wrote her first song at age nine, and has been performing her own brand of rootsy Americana music since her early teens. She spent her childhood listening to the artists her parents loved – Jimmie Rogers, The Weavers, B.B. King, Elvis Presley – to name just a few, absorbing their sounds and ultimately allowing them to influence her own. At fourteen she picked up the guitar and has been hooked on the process of making music ever since.
While Ms. Frame delivers her songs with strong, distinctive vocals that fall somewhere between Dwight Yoakum’s twang and k.d lang’s soul, one can’t listen to her music without also hearing the influences of people like Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash. She is backed live by her band, the Kickers, a group of talented friends whose raw, acoustic sound and sweet harmonies help to deliver Ms. Frame’s material with distinction. They play regularly around the north shore of Massachusetts and are fast becoming a favorite of the area. A prodigious writer, Ms. Frame is currently in the studio recording a new batch of original material that she hopes to release sometime in 2010.
About the Newburyport Education Foundation: The Mission of the Newburyport Education Foundation is to bring philanthropy into the Newburyport Public Schools and generate financial resources that will enhance the quality of public education.
Formed to enhance educational opportunities for the city’s public school children, the goal of the Newburyport Education Foundation is to supplement funding for programs which are already supported by public financing at a basic level, but which can be substantially improved by additional private sector financing, and to finance programs that might not receive funding from traditional sources such as the district budget or state aid.
Proceeds to benefit the Newburyport Education Foundation.
