John comes to the Firehouse from Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. A graduate from the University of New Hampshire, he is looking forward to building the great tradition of the Firehouse. A Massachusetts native, currently living in New Hampshire with his wife and two children, this is a homecoming of sorts for him. With a strong background in non-profit management, John is excited about this opportunity and looks forward to working with the community.
Kimm has lived in Newburyport for over 25 years and has been associated with the Firehouse since 1992- whether on stage, as a producer, as a director, or as part of our staff. She began her career as an event planner and she began here as a Box Office Manager, was promoted to Production Manager in 2006 and Artistic Director in 2013. "The theater is my second family. Growing up I was encouraged not to speak up, but in the world of theater, you are encouraged to find and use your voice."
James has been engaged with the Newburyport theater scene since 1997 when he was a part of Theater in the Open. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emerson College, a wonderfully trained eye, and patient disposition, we are thrilled that he has served as our multi-talented Technical Director since 2005. Ten years later, he continues to enjoy the wide range of productions that hit our stage. Newsflash! James is getting married in September! Wish him well with a shout out on Facebook or by contacting him at James@firehouse.org.
Gallery Director/Box Office Staff
Massachusetts-born Professor of Philosophy, Dr. Lisa Esposito recently retired from a 25 year career in university administration and teaching. Also a self-taught abstract expressionist painter with experience with non-profit art associations and art education, Lisa is thrilled to join the Firehouse team in its mission to promote engagement with the arts and humanities particularly through its thriving Art Gallery and arts education programs.
Laurie began working as our Marketing Manager in 2013. A native of Newburyport, she considers herself lucky to have returned to this beautiful corner of the world. We're certainly glad she did! She has served as Marketing Coordinator for the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and is always looking for ways to strengthen her community. "I am continually amazed at the quality of theater, live music and educational programs the Firehouse offers and brim with pride when I see the way the arts touch people's lives."
House Manager / Volunteer Coordinator
If you've been to the Firehouse, chances are you've met Evelyn! Evelyn is our House Manager / Volunteer Coordinator extraordinaire and has worked with the Firehouse since 2006, following her retirement from Lucent Technologies. Raised in PA, Evelyn is a long time resident of Newburyport, and raised her daughter here. "I had lived in Newburyport for 34 years before I began with the Firehouse. I've met more people in the past 9 years than I had in those first 34 years. The Firehouse is a great community to be a part of!"
Box Office Manager
Nancy Ogasapian began her association with the Firehouse Center for the Arts as a volunteer usher in 2007 after moving to Newburyport from Pepperell, MA. She retired in 2006 after more than 30 years as a library media specialist. Nancy holds a Master's in Library Science, so it's no wonder we refer to her as our data guru! She has served as organist at several churches in Massachusetts, and enjoys reading, gardening, genealogy, the arts, traveling and anything to do with the ocean. She's happy to be living in such a vibrant city and especially thankful for the opportunity to be working at the Firehouse where there really is a program for everyone — from toddlers to seniors.
A North Shore native, Alyssa has been a part of the local visual and performing arts community since childhood, working both on stage and behind the scenes with several theater groups in the area. She graduated from Endicott College in Beverly in 2016, where she studied Interior Design and Studio Art and served as Drama Club Board Secretary, props master, and stage manager for the Performing Arts department. In 2015 Alyssa was the props/scenic intern and a stagehand for the Sharon Playhouse in Sharon, CT for their summer season, before continuing on to a production internship with the Firehouse that led to her role as Production Assistant. She is thrilled to be a member of the amazing staff at the Firehouse and couldn't imagine a better community to work with!
