About the Artist:
A nature and travel photographer, Kathleen Milstein holds an MEd in Special Education from the University of Utah. She lived and worked for eleven years in Aschaffenburg, Germany before moving with her family to Merrimac, MA in 1989. Life in Europe stimulated her desire to learn the craft of photography. New England continues to inspire her from the beaches to the mountains. When digital cameras and Photoshop were invented she embraced the new technology wholeheartedly. Currently, Milstein teaches photography to adults and children. She founded a photography program at the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Merrimack Valley in Salisbury six years ago and has taught for Pentucket Adult Education Program. She is a member of the Newburyport Art Association and its Photography Interest Group. Her work has been exhibited at the Plymouth Center for the Arts; Newburyport Art Association (as a Featured Artist); the Anna Jaques Hospital; Chococoa; and The Purple Onion (all of Newburyport).

Artist Statement:
“I believe that creativity and self-expression are essential to each of us in defining our sense of self and contribution to the human experience. We all have a boundless ability to create and recognize that in each other. My goal is to connect you to the world through my photographs and inspire you with the possibility of your own self-expression and creativity. I believe that the preservation of wild and natural space is essential to maintaining a sense of our own humanity and place on earth. If, in viewing these images, you are inspired to visit wild and natural places I have accomplished something very good indeed.” (Kathleen Milstein)
