About the Artist:
Elizabeth Pogor grew up in Massachusetts and began her career as an artist after graduating from Massachusetts College of Art in the 1980’s as a sculpture major, and studied briefly at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly. She became interested in working with oils much later, when she enrolled at an evening oil painting class. By the time she had completed that class she knew that painting in oils was what she loved. Her early pieces were more traditional, some figurative, some still life. She then moved onto more abstract work. Presently she paints both genres, sometimes simultaneously.
Recently, in September of 2017 she had the privilege of a solo exhibition at Colo Colo Gallery in New Bedford for a five week period. She was also featured in September, 2017 Artscope Magazine. Pogor is also the owner of Silver Tie Servers, providing servers, waitstaff, and event planning for all types of events.
“People say they see images in my abstract work… I do not. I never plan out my paintings nor do I anticipate my palette beforehand. Some pieces work, others do not. Many times my successes are painted over my failures… look deep into the layers of color and you may see what’s underneath”. (Elizabeth Pogor)
